WTOP-TV in Washington (Channel 9) was the home of the first Ranger Hal.

The Washington Post owned WTOP in Washington DC as well as WJXT in Jacksonville.  The "Ranger Hal" show was the brainchild of Channel 9 Program Director Jim Silman in association with a gentleman named Harold Shaw.  Mr. Shaw starred as Ranger Hal on WTOP from 1957-1969.

For more information, please refer to the "DC Memories" web site.

The Washington Ranger Hal site is run by Kaptain Kidshow, who provided valuable encouragement and advice to get this site started.  Thanks, Kaptain!
